Skiing/Snowboarding
Typically, Big Snow Country receives over 200″ of annual snowfall. As a compliment to the natural snow, Big Powderhorn Mountain’s snowmaking system covers 90% of the mountain to ensure quality skiing throughout the season. Each night the grooming crew works diligently so you’ll awake to another day of beautifully groomed slopes.
Big Powderhorn Mountain has 33 regularly groomed trails and two terrain parks. Nine double chair lifts and a beginner handle tow rope allow skiers/snow boarders to enjoy the 253 beautiful acres. Ski and Board Rental is available at the Gun Barrel Lodge. Lifts are open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Click here to read more about the area’s resorts.
Ice Fishing
Ice fishing for Lake trout, chinook, coho salmon, and steelhead in the waters of Lake Superior will provide a good challenge as you haul them up from great depths. Pike, trout, bass, muskie and numerous pan fish can be caught at any of the many inland lakes. Many lakes are readily accessible, while others lie deeply hidden in the forest, challenging the skill, ingenuity and adventurous spirit of the fisherman. Area outfitters can rent you all the equipment you’ll need for an enjoyable outing. Click here for the area’s fishing report.
