Winter in the Western Upper Peninsula
Winter at Big Powderhorn offers an unlimited variety of outdoor entertainment. In addition to alpine skiing at Big Powderhorn Ski Mountain you can choose from four other nearby ski areas, or several groomed Nordic cross-country ski trails. Some of the best snowmobile trails in the country make snowmobiling a popular activity as well. Opportunities for snowshoeing, ice skating, and sleigh rides are just outside your door. Typically, the Lake Superior shoreline receives over 200″ of annual snowfall. But as a compliment to the natural snow, Big Powderhorn Ski Mountain snowmaking system covers 90% of the mountain to ensure quality skiing throughout the season. Each night the grooming crew works diligently so you’ll awake to another day of beautifully groomed slopes.
