Located in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Big Powderhorn Lodging is nestled at the base of Big Powderhorn Mountain in the heart of Big Snow Country. Mother Nature blesses the area with an average of 200+ inches of snow annually. The picturesque, serene surroundings and abundance of snow provides for the best skiing in the Midwest. All our vacation homes are located in the Powderhorn village surrounding Big Powderhorn Mountain. A plus to Big Powderhorn Lodging’s location is that there are several more ski resorts within a 10-minute drive: Blackjack Ski Resort & Indianhead Mountain Resort, now part of Big Snow Resorts as well as Mt. Zion Ski Hill at GCC. The Porcupine Mountains Ski Area is located in Ontonagon, MI, about an hour drive from Big Powderhorn Lodging. Whitecap Mountains Resort is located in Upson, Wisconsin, about a 35 minute drive from Big Powderhorn Lodging.

Blackjack Resort features 26 trails, 6 lifts and 2 terrain parks. Night Skiing is available on Saturday nights and holiday weekends, weather permitting. Blackjack Resort is located just minutes east of Big Powderhorn Lodging.

Indianhead Mountain Resort is located only 10 minutes east of Big Powderhorn Lodging. With 638 vertical feet and 30 wide open trails, Indianhead offers a wide range of trails to appeal to all levels of skiers.
Mt. Zion at Gogebic Community College
Mt. Zion is a public ski hill located on Gogebic Community College’s campus in Ironwood, MI. Home to GCC’s nationally acclaimed Ski Area Management program, Mt. Zion offers days-long outdoor entertainment for the entire family. Enjoy picturesque views of Big Snow Country while downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing or snowshoeing. Mt. Zion Ski Hill also offers ‘learn to ski/snowboard’ programs that are perfect for children and beginners of all ages. Mt. Zion offers 10 slopes and trails, a snowtubing park, free cross country ski trail, quality ski and snowboard rentals, group rates and more!
