Day One
Late afternoon or early evening arrival.
Baggage delivered to your unit or room.
Dinner included at the Alpen Inn.
Day Two
7:00 AM Continental Breakfast included.
9:00 AM depart for guided tour of local area
Tour of the resort area and drive the Black River scenic Byway to Copper Peak
the world's largest ski flying hill. Ride the chairlift.
Continue to Black River Harbor and take a walk over the swing bridge to the
beach on Lake Superior.
Stop at one of the four waterfalls on a short ride into Ironwood for lunch at
the Elk and Hound. (This is a great restaurant in an early 20"s Country
Club setting)
Tour of the Restored Art deco Ironwood Theatre home of a Barton organ restored
to it's intact condition as it was on opening night in June 10 1928.
We will visit Hurley's Iron County Historical Museum located in Hurley, WI where
there are all types of artifacts from this city's past.
Return to the Resort with dinner this evening at a local supper club.
Day Three
Continental Breakfast included
Depart for Manitowish Waters and the Cranberry Bog Tour. Spend an hour with
a guide from the Cranberry Farm learning about growing and harvesting this favorite
berry. Visit their gift shop before departing
Travel to Rhinelander for lunch and a cruise aboard the Wilderness Cruise on
the Wisconsin River. Narrated cruise during your narrated lunch.
Stop in Minocqua with time for shopping in this Northern Resort town with its
variety of unique shops.
Visit Jim Peck's Wildwood and get up close with wildlife. View the diverse Northern
wildlife in a natural setting along with a few animals not for the area including
buffalo.
We will enjoy dinner on the way back to Powderhorn at Little Bohemia infamous
for the shoot out with Dillinger who escaped from this run in with the law.
Little Bohemia is located on the Manitowish chain of lakes.
Day Four
Luggage out as we will be departing today.
Breakfast included prior to departure.
Depart for the Copper Country.
The scenery is incredible along the Western Coast of the Keweenaw Peninsula.
One of our stops is the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. This is actually four museums
in one. A lighthouse, a historical, a commercial fishing and a shipwreck museum.
We will have a guide to take us through the lighthouse.
Shopping stop in Copper harbor depending on time of arrival.
Lunch stop at the Harbor Haus on Lake Superior. Choice of Wiener schnitzel,
Kassler Rippchen (Smoked Pork Chop) or Lake Trout, dessert and choice of beverage.
Depart for Calumet via Brockway Mountain drive. Stop at the viewing area on
top of this 10-mile drive along the spine of Brockway Mountain.
Depart for Calumet and a driving tour through this Copper Town.
Lodging at the Best Western Franklin Square. Bags delivered
Dinner included at the 7th floor restaurant with views of the Portage Canal.
Day 5
Bags out with breakfast included before departing.
