Gold ratings offer the finest accommodations in the area.  Cabin furnishings and appointments are of the highest quality, unique and coordinated as well as other aspects of the interior.  These cabins are not lacking in any detail.

Silver ratings reflect recent interior design motifs and coordinated decorating efforts.  Inventory contained is excellent in quality and condition.  The cabin is comfortable and stylish with the feeling of home.

Bronze cabins offer a more sterile environment.  Personality and decorating motifs are present, albeit not fully coordinated; there may be a pieced together feel. These cabins offer no frills but an acceptable lodging experience.

Big Powderhorn Mountain

Indianhead Mountain Resort

Indianhead Mountain Resort is located only 10 minutes east of Big Powderhorn Lodging. With 638 vertical feet, Indianhead offers a wide range of trails to appeal to all levels of skiers. The two terrain parks, ‘Big Chief’ and beginner park ‘Timber Wolf’, deliver excitement to your ride and accommodate for varying levels of ability. For the beginner Indianhead operates a magic carpet training center.

Blackjack Resort

Blackjack Resort came under new ownership in 2009. The new team is committed to excellent service. Blackjack resort features 19 trails and 2 terrain parks. The ‘Just Cuz’ park will be a new terrain park featuring small and medium obstacles throughout a full trail, top to bottom run. Blackjack Resort is located just minutes east of Big Powderhorn Lodging.

 

 

The Porkies

The Porcupine Mountains in Ontonagon Michigan are about an hour drive to the east. The Porkies boast 42 runs, and 42 km of cross country ski trails. The new attraction, Everest, is another mountain just west of the main ski area and features over 100 acres of inbounds backcountry terrain and lots of fresh powder. This area is serviced by the Expedition Everest Snowcat as it takes you to the top of the half mile wide forest. The snow cat will also deliver you to the wide open slopes on the west side of the Porkies.
